NRT Transfer Guide
Tokyo Narita International Airport · updated Oct 2026
Narita is the classic US–China transfer point. Same-terminal transfers are smooth (90 min realistic minimum); T1↔T2 adds ~30 min by shuttle bus.
Terminal layout
United and Star Alliance partners mostly use T1; Delta uses T1 as well; JAL/oneworld mostly T2. Same-alliance = usually same terminal.
Bags & security
Single ticket: bags through-checked. You do re-clear security at Narita on international transfers — follow the "International Transfer" signs, not arrivals.
Overnight
Narita has no airside transit hotel like ICN; the 9h capsule (landside) or nearby airport hotels work for long layovers. Note: Narita closes overnight — no sleeping airside between last and first flights.
